Gov. Beshear Executive Order 2020-257 – Link to Executive Order which states “Only Life-Sustaining Businesses May Remain Open”; specifies each allowable industry category (“Housing, Buildings and Construction” and all its subdivisions are allowable). For multiple Life-Sustaining Businesses the order identifies some, but certainly not all reasons, the entire industry is allowed to operate. Please do not misinterpret the order as limiting our industry’s essential service. Do continue adherence to CDC guidance for safety precautions and protocols.
COVID-19 Letter to Contractors Finance and Administration Cabinet Memorandum (3-26-20) - This communication emphasizes there are no current plans to shut down Kentucky construction projects. However, should an unexpected temporary delay occur, contractors performing work on DECA projects must prepare a plan to provide specific information.
USDOL Guidance on Emergency Paid Leave Requirements - The new guidance includes a new poster that will fulfill notice requirements for employers obligated to inform employees about their rights under this new law. It also includes questions and answers about posting requirements, and a Field Assistance Bulletin describing WHD’s 30-day non-enforcement policy. The new guidance addresses critical issues such as whether employers may post required notice electronically, whether employers must provide notice of this law to recently laid-off individuals, when FFCRA applies to federal workers and when enforcement of the new rules will begin.
